MASTERY CERTIFICATION IN MANUAL THERAPY
In today's competitive environment, it is important for the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy clinicians to
demonstrate competency in their areas of clinical interest and expertise.
The Mastery Certification in Manual Therapy is a continuing education training program that offers expanded study and
clinical practicum in the most important, effective and most widely used areas
of Manual Therapy.
Manual Therapy is considered the most effective approach to treat
Musculoskeletal Dysfunction. Unlike other training seminars and programs that teach one single approach to the treatment musculoskeletal dysfunction, our program offers a unique comprehensive approach that integrates 47 years of clinical experience of Dr. Kostopoulos & K. Rizopoulos with some of the teachings of leading manual therapy doctors Travell & Simons, Maitland & Butler, Kaltenborn, Paris & others. This program offers to the clinician a series of
comprehensive training seminars with immediate clinical applications that enable
the clinician to demonstrate competency and become an expert in the subject. |

The curriculum is flexible and is designed for the working professional. You can

take the courses?
These courses are offered by Hands-On Seminars and its affiliate organizations
several times every year in various regions of the country and students have the
flexibility to attend to any of these courses.
All of the courses can be taken in any order and they have no prerequisite.
Do I have to take an exam to be awarded CUs?
Yes. After the attendance of each of our courses you will be given a take home
exam and assignment. You will be awarded the CUs as soon as we receive the exam
and the administrative fee. The exam has a Pass/Fail score. In the rare event
that you fail the exam you can retake it up to three times.
Is there an additional cost of the course when I use it for credit towards
Mastery Certification?
There is an administrative fee of $30 per CU. Example: If you are attending a
course that costs $350 and the course has 3 CUs, then you will make 2 separate
checks one for $350 to pay for the course and another one for $90 (3CUs X $30)
as administrative fee. The administrative fee must accompany your take home
exam. Upon receipt of the administrative fee you will receive a separate
document that will certify the completion of your CUs.
Do I get awarded regular Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at the state where I belong?
When we teach in states that require CEUs we always apply with the state and we
award state CEUs for our courses.
Can I take your courses without going for the Mastery Certification?
Absolutely Yes. Actually, most of the people who attend our courses do not
participate in the Mastery Certification program. This program is appropriate
only for those few who want to excel and to become experts in the area of Manual
Therapy Treatment.
What happens during the PT-MCMT (Mastery Certification in Manual Therapy) course
and what are the requirements for me to attend?
The PT-MCMT course is open ONLY to those students who have completed PT-01 to
PT-05 or equivalent. The course will provide an overall review of all manual
therapy techniques taught in the previous courses, along with certain advanced
technique details. A written and practical exam will take place during the
course. All students are expected to pass these exams since the previous
training provided during our course sequence is very thorough and intense.
What is the tDPT and how can I achieve this?
tDPT (Transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy) is a Doctorate university degree with emphasis in Manual Therapy. Hands-On Seminars in cooperation with one of the largest Universities in the US offer a tDPT degree as an option to our seminar participants.
Completion of all of our courses PT-1 to PT-5 along with PT-MCMT as well as completion of certain other courses that have as a purpose the further clinical advancement of the participant must be completed.
Only Physical Therapists with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree are eligible for the tDPT program.
Further details will follow soon. We expect to launch this program in the Fall of 2008.
After I complete the tDPT can I put the DPT initials next to my name?
The tDPT is a University Degree and you can use the initials DPT next to your name.
What is the Clinical Fellowship?
The clinical fellowship is NOT required for the Mastery Certification in Manual
Therapy. The purpose of the Clinical Fellowship is to improve the clinical
skills and Hands-On application of the various manual therapy techniques to
those students who want a more complete experience. The Clinical Fellowship
takes place in our New York facilities. In the future we will have the capacity
to offer clinical fellowships in other areas. The student spends 2 weeks in our
facilities with one or more of the instructors. The training includes: direct
instruction, method review, direct patient evaluations, direct patient treatment
sessions, technique correction and method variability, differential diagnosis,
issues on patient communication, discussion and decision making on case study.
The cost of the clinical fellowship is $3,500.
Is the Clinical Fellowship required for the Mastery Certification in Manual
Therapy?
The clinical fellowship is NOT required for the Mastery Certification in Manual
Therapy.
What is the case study?
The case study is part of the Clinical Fellowship. The case study is NOT
required for the Mastery Certification in Manual Therapy. The purpose if the
case study is to enhance the writing abilities of the therapist and encourage
them to write and publish clinical case studies. We will help you to develop and
write a case study of a specific patient of yours. You may even elect to write
about one of the patients that you will treat during your clinical fellowship.
Sometimes, people put some extra effort and create a publishable product, though
it is not a requirement of the program. Details of the case study will be
discussed during your clinical fellowship. The case study is a very easy process
to complete.
Is the Case Study required for the Mastery Certification in Manual Therapy?
The Case Study is NOT required for the Mastery Certification in Manual Therapy.
Can I put any initials next to my name after completing the Mastery
Certification in Manual Therapy program?
You are allowed to use MCMT - Mastery Certification in Manual Therapy next to
your name. You need to understand though that certifications are not academic
degrees. They are rather designations of recognition for accomplishing an
organized, comprehensive and competitive program which includes specific testing
procedures. When you successfully finish the program you can use the MCMT
designation.
What can I do if I have taken some of your courses in the past?
If you have taken any of our courses in the past you can get credit by taking
the take Home Exam and paying the administrative fee of $30 per Credit Unit.

need to do?
He must contact 1-888-767-5003 and submit a free of charge application to
participate in the Mastery Certification In Manual Therapy program. He must then
request the take home exam for PT-01. Return back to us the completed exam along
with the applicable administrative fee ($30 per CU X 3 CUs = $90). Take then the
rest of the required courses. After completion of the above he can obtain the
Mastery Certification in Manual Therapy.
Can I use credits from your Home Study courses towards the Mastery Certification
in Manual Therapy?
Yes. You can substitute up to 2 of the 5 required courses with our Home Study
